First Pitch

The first idea I had for our music video was a narrative content, rather than performance, as our group do not have the resources to create a performance based music video. After listening to the song Muse - 'Feeling Good', I had an idea for a satirical music video playing on the words 'Feeling Good'. The Video would be entailing the life of a lonely girl, different than everyone else an outsider who was feeling nothing but good. The video would show her everyday morning routine, such as brushing teeth, eating toast making tea, brushing hair , all the shots would be very short and snappy and never show the main characters face. At the climax of the intro as the chorus begins when 'I'm feeling good' kicks in the face of the girl would be shown to the audience, but it would be a clowns mask. Then the rest of the video would portray the character as different as everyone else (who would be mask less), lonely, at work, at parties, picked on and maybe beaten at one point, her mask would be ripped off after the beating and then left face down on the side of the road. The camera would then follow the feet of an unknown character, who would pull the girl up from the floor, the camera would follow the girl up to be met by a person also in a clown mask. The couple would walk down the street hand in hand, the last shot being a shot of both characters, a girl and a boy, with the clown masks on the back of their heads lips touching with their faces finaly unveiled.

I intended the idea of the video to be thought provoking and portray a story for the audience to become involved in and perhaps relate to, almost everyone at one point has felt like an outsider or felt different to others. By infusing a love story at the end I wanted to illustrate that everyone has someone in their life who understands and loves them, swapping the lyrics from being satirical to finaly being realised, as the main character at last feels good in her own skin.
